Products containing hazardous materials such as flammable gases, flammable solids, acids, oxidizers, or batteries require special disclosure and regulatory compliance for safe storage and transportation through Jetpack’s fulfillment network.
Pre-Approval Required: All dangerous goods and HAZMAT products must receive written approval from Jetpack before sending inventory to any fulfillment center. Shipments received without approval may be rejected, returned at your expense, or disposed of.

Pre-Shipment Approval Process

Submit Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

Provide a complete Safety Data Sheet for all SKUs classified as dangerous goods or HAZMAT. The SDS must be current and compliant with regulatory standards.

Include Product Quantity Information

Clearly specify the quantity of hazardous material per unit or package.

Obtain Written Approval

Wait for written confirmation from Jetpack before creating warehouse receiving orders or shipping inventory to fulfillment centers.

Shipping Restrictions

Geographic Limitation: Jetpack can only ship products considered DG/HAZMAT domestically within the United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and other US territories).

Prohibited Destinations

  • Alaska
  • Hawaii
  • US territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, etc.)
  • PO Box addresses
  • APO/FPO military addresses
  • International destinations

Shipping Method Restrictions

  • Cannot use merchant-provided prepaid labels
  • Limited to Jetpack-arranged carrier services only
  • Ground transportation required (no air shipments)
  • Restricted to contiguous 48 states

Regulatory Compliance

Limited Quantity Classification

Orders shipping from Jetpack’s US fulfillment centers that contain products considered DG/HAZMAT can only be shipped as “limited quantities” per Department of Transportation regulations.
Limited quantity shipments must comply with:
  • 49 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 173
  • IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations

Package Specifications

All dangerous goods and HAZMAT shipments must meet strict size and weight limitations to qualify for limited quantity classification.

Maximum Dimensions:
  • Length: 13 inches
  • Width: 10 inches
  • Height: 8 inches
Maximum Weight:
  • Under 15 pounds (including packaging)
Packages exceeding these specifications cannot be shipped as limited quantities and will not be eligible for fulfillment through Jetpack’s network.

Carrier Surcharges

Additional Fees Apply: Carriers may apply hazardous materials surcharges to orders containing DG/HAZMAT products. These surcharges will be added to your standard fulfillment costs.
Common surcharges include:
  • HAZMAT handling fees
  • Limited quantity processing fees
  • Ground-only shipping premiums
  • Special packaging requirements

Battery Products

Products containing batteries are subject to both this policy and Jetpack’s specific Battery Policy.

Configuration in Jetpack Dashboard

Once your product receives written approval, you must properly configure it in the Jetpack platform.

Navigate to Product Catalog

Go to Products > Product Catalog in your Jetpack dashboard.

Locate Your SKU

Use the search function or filters to find the specific SKU that contains hazardous materials.

Enable HAZMAT Classification

Check the box labeled “This is classified as a hazmat good” in the product details.

Attach Safety Data Sheet

Upload your PDF SDS document (maximum file size: 50 MB).

Save Changes

Save your product configuration to apply the HAZMAT classification.
Failure to properly configure HAZMAT products in your dashboard may result in shipment delays, refused orders, or safety violations.

Failure to comply with dangerous goods and HAZMAT policies may result in:
