When your products are delicate or easily damaged during shipping, Jetpack provides specialized packaging procedures to ensure they arrive safely. By marking items as fragile in your dashboard, you trigger additional protective measures like extra cushioning materials and careful handling protocols, along with transparent fee structures that vary by region and shipping start date.

Handling Fragile Products

Fragile products are easily broken or damaged in transit. If your products are considered fragile, ensure each is marked as “is fragile” on the product’s details page in your Jetpack dashboard. When you mark a product as fragile, an alert is triggered for the Operations team so that these packages are handled with extra care.

Packaging Process for Fragile Items

All orders containing fragile products will be shipped in one of Jetpack’s standard boxes or your custom box. Jetpack’s box selection algorithm will choose a box that has sufficient space to include additional dunnage (brown paper filler) and one layer of Geami around the product for extra protection. Examples of protective packaging materials: Dunnage (brown paper filler) and Geami wrap
If you supply custom boxes, consider the extra space needed for proper cushioning when determining your custom box size.
It is recommended not to ship orders containing fragile products in custom mailers (e.g., bubble mailers or poly mailers), as Jetpack will not be responsible for any damages incurred.
By correctly marking your fragile products and following these guidelines, you help ensure that they are packaged with the necessary care and extra protection, thereby reducing the risk of damage during transit.

Fragile Pack Fees

The fragile pack fee covers the extra labor and packaging materials needed to pack fragile items and is charged per unit marked as fragile on your product’s details page for each shipment (B2C or B2B).
Merchants who started shipping with Jetpack on or before February 28, 2023, are exempt from this fee.
For current fragile pack pricing by region, visit the Hazmat + Fragile pricing page (located under the B2B and B2C pricing pages).

Fragile Packaging FAQs

Since fragile stickers are not included in our standard fragile pack process, Jetpack can apply fragile stickers as long as you supply the stickers and work with our Jetpack Care team to ensure they are utilized for your shipments.
Jetpack cannot purchase fragile stickers on the merchant’s behalf.
When sending fragile stickers to Jetpack, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
  • Individual Storage Required: The stickers must be stored individually, not on rolls or sheets (since we cannot quantify one unit when picking rolls or sheets, skewing On-Hand counts)
  • Separation Paid Request: If you send fragile stickers on a roll or sheet, a Paid Request will be required to separate the stickers
  • Product Creation: A product must be created in the Product Catalog for the fragile sticker
  • Storage Fees: The fragile sticker will incur warehousing storage fees once received from a WRO
  • Multiple Location Requirements: (Applicable only if you utilize more than one fulfillment center) You must send fragile stickers to each location that ships orders requiring fragile stickers. This ensures that every relevant fulfillment center is adequately stocked and able to apply fragile stickers to qualifying shipments
  • Storage Fee Details: Click here to retrieve warehousing storage fees
  • Configuration Required: Contact Jetpack Care to configure a rule or bundle and a GIF for your account to ensure fragile stickers are used for applicable shipments:
    • A rule or bundle is required to ensure the sticker is included in applicable shipments
    • We can accomplish this with rules or bundles, so discussing which product(s) require the stickers will help you determine which option to choose
    • A GIF is required to accompany the fragile stickers to ensure the sticker is applied to the outside of the box (and not included inside the shipment)
